ARTIST BIO

I am a photographer and visual storyteller, based in the Hudson Valley, NY. My work weaves between documentary and editorial approaches, shaped by a background in performance and a deep interest in storytelling, folklore, and craft.

My work has been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Boston Globe, Forbes, and leading performing arts publications. Alongside commissioned work in dance, performance, arts documentation, and events, I continue to develop personal projects that bring image and oral storytelling together, increasingly incorporating cyanotype and textile arts.

When I am not behind the camera, my work is as a Creative Strategist for nonprofits and organizations in the arts and education. I founded Em + Co. in 2025 as a home for this work.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I was born on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, but for many years I’ve lived on land that is traditional Mohican and Munsee Lenape territory, known today as New York State. My Matriline comes from Scotland, but my family has immigrated through many countries over the last four generations. I am from these lands, and not from any land.

In my life, I have often been a bridge between two worlds - the city and the country, the religious and the secular, the digital and the natural.

Since finding Storytelling as an art form in England and Scotland many years ago, I have found my creative home at the intersection of visual narrative, storytelling, and folk history. My work now also bridges past and future, creating spaces for community to encounter that which endures in a time of ever-increasing digitalization.
